It looked like beer I have seen friends drinking, but had an aroma that was so different. … I took a sip. I had nothing with which to compare the taste, but this was crisp, clean, like a chilly fall morning. This was beer? Really? I could get used to this.

Exactly. I’d rather drink beer than wine…but good beer. Smithwick’s. Murphy’s. O’Hara’s. Sam Adams Noble Pils. Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin. Old Speckled Hen (my new favorite). Boddington’s. Fraoch (heather ale).
None of that tasteless-beer-in-an-aluminum-bottle stuff for me. If you’re out of college and not looking to just get trashed, I suggest you find a store with a good selection of single bottles and pick a few to try.
Oh how I love a good brown ale this time of year… Stouts and porters aren’t too bad either :)
